TIPS

In some cases it is difficult to complement the seven domains of early childhood development in a class. In this post you can find a lesson plan in relation with the parts of the body. Here, you can find an example about how link all.

LESSON PLAN: I RESPECT MYSELF
The present lesson plan will be developed in three classes of two hours each one.
OBJECTIVES:
To learn that although we have some differences we are all the same.
To recognize the importance of taking care of our body.
CLASS 1: BODY PARTS
            DOMAINS: Language. Cognitive. Gross and fine motor.                       
ACTIVITY

1.Warming up
5 minutes
2. The teacher is going to play the song “I've Got the Rhythm | Body Parts Songs | Pinkfong Songs for Children.". The song will be played 3 times. Firstly, the students will listen the complete song trying to identify known and unknown vocabulary.
5 minutes
Song: I've Got the Rhythm | Body Parts Songs | Pinkfong Songs for Children.
3. The students will listen the song for a second time stopping the video, in order to reinforce vocabulary. The teacher will pronounce the words and write them on the board, supporting them with images. The students will repeat the vocabulary to practice pronunciation, in the same way until the song finishes.

4. The students will listen the song for a third time. The teacher will play the video again and they will repeat the movements that the video shows or the teacher represents. Also, they have to repeat the complete song.

5. The teacher will paste on the board two big bodies: a boy and a girl, pointing out the body parts with the help of the students. Afterward, the students will repeat the vocabulary in two times.

6. The students are going to receive a cardboard for drawing the same images depending the genre of each student.

CLASS 2: WE ARE ALL THE SAME
DOMAINS: Gross and fine motor. Spiritual and moral
                      Social and emotional.
ACTIVITY

1.Warming up
5 minutes
2. The teacher will start the class making a review of what the students learned in the previous class.
10 minutes
3. The teacher will show images with different people: American, Afro American, Indigenous and Chinese, through which there are relevant differences between their physical appearance and their color skin.

4. After, the teacher will ask the students what they think about their differences.  Taking into account their answers, the teacher will make a reflection.

5. The teacher will organize four groups and will give to each group a puzzle with the previous four images: American, Afro American, Indigenous and Chinese people. When all groups finish putting together each puzzle, the teacher will change the puzzles to other group, until all groups complete the four puzzles.

2. The teacher is going to play the song “Brush Your Teeth | Word Play | Pinkfong Songs for Children". The song will be played 3 times. Firstly, the students will listen the complete song trying to identify known and unknown vocabulary.

Song: “Brush Your Teeth | Word Play | Pinkfong Songs for Children".
3. The students will listen the song for a second time stopping the video, in order to reinforce vocabulary. 6. The teacher will make a reflection about the importance to visit the dentist and to use oral hygiene elements. For that it is necessary to do questions like: How often do you visit the dentist? How many times a day do you brush your teeth? What elements of oral hygiene do you use?. Finally, the teacher will show some images with examples of oral problems..

WHICH ARE THE SEVEN DOMAINS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT?

According to UNICEF (2012), Early-childhood development (ECD) refers to a comprehensive approach to policies and programs for children from birth to eight years of age. The purpose of this approach is to defend child’s rights to develop all their cognitive, emotional, social and physical potential.  Since birth, children start to explore their world through the senses. Thanks to this constant exploration, children swiftly develop the domains of their physical and mental abilities.
